How to handle the leakage of bidirectional hard sealed butterfly valves?
Leakage of bidirectional hard sealed butterfly valves is one of the common problems in industrial production, which may lead to safety hazards and production accidents. To address this situation, we can take the following steps:
Preliminary judgment of air leakage: Firstly, it is necessary to confirm whether the valve is truly leaking. This can be judged by observing and hearing the sound. If gas leakage can be seen or obvious noise can be heard, it is likely that the valve is leaking.
Stopping the valve and reducing pressure: After discovering valve leakage, the operation of the valve should be stopped first and emergency treatment should be carried out. If the air leakage is severe, the pipeline system related to the valve should be immediately closed and measures should be taken to reduce the internal pressure in the system.
Locating the leak point: It is very important to determine the location of the leak. Check for defects at the valve and pipeline connections, such as damage or wear on the sealing surface. At the same time, it is also necessary to check whether the valve blades are loose or broken from the sealing ring or gasket.
Cleaning and maintenance: If the leakage is caused by foreign objects or dirt on the valve sealing surface, cleaning can be used for treatment. Use appropriate cleaning agent to clean the sealing surface and check for any slight damage. If damage is found, the sealing surface needs to be replaced in a timely manner.

Replace sealing components: If the leakage is caused by wear or aging of the sealing components, a new sealing component needs to be replaced. Firstly, select appropriate sealing materials and then replace the sealing components. When replacing sealing components, it should be ensured to strictly follow the manufacturer's specifications to ensure accurate installation.
Repair or replace the valve: If the above measures cannot solve the problem of air leakage, it may be necessary to repair or replace the valve. Repair includes inspection of various components of the valve and repair as needed. Replacing the valve requires replacing the entire valve, which requires more complex operations and time.
Testing and monitoring: After addressing the air leakage issue, testing and monitoring are required to ensure that the air leakage issue has been resolved. Use appropriate testing methods such as pressure testing, leakage testing, etc. to strictly inspect the valve and ensure its normal operation.
Overall, the correct handling of air leakage in bidirectional hard sealed butterfly valves requires initial judgment, stopping valve operation, and depressurization, followed by locating the leakage point, cleaning and maintenance, replacing sealing components, repairing or replacing the valve, and conducting testing and monitoring. This can promptly solve the problem of air leakage and ensure system safety. At the same time, regular inspections and maintenance of valves are carried out to prevent air leakage and improve the reliability and service life of the equipment.
